Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy

This therapy is best described as changing muscle tone and function by locating sensitive spots within muscle or fascia and focusing sustained pressure on them.  These spots are usually painful on compression and may cause referred pain to other areas. Some of the different techniques used are compression on the  passive stretch, reciprocal inhibition and relaxation during exhalation. A person receiving treatment can expect postural changes and increased flexibility.  When the nervous system is heightened and working too directly on trigger points becomes antagonistic to relaxation, modifying the pressure or working more distally along satellite trigger points can be more effective at pain relief. Communication with the patient is the most valuable tool in providing quality care.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage is used when swelling and lymphedema is present.  It can also aid in helping the immune system and digestion. Chronic inflammation due to an overwhelmed lymphatic system can show up as joint pain, skin disorders, recurring illnesses and lethargy.

Fascial Stretch Therapy

Fascial stretch Therapy is used to help circulate synovial fluid in joints, increase range of motion and lengthen fascial lines along the movement pathways. This is a favorite technique among athletes.

Pelvic Floor Therapy

Pelvic floor therapy is an internal release of the pelvic floor muscles. It can be extremely effective for chronic low back and hip pain. Women who experience loss of urine, dyspareunia (pain with penetration) or prolapse of the uterus are ideal candidates for this treatment.
